Synonymous with Christmas, the VC Venta Christmas Pudding Ride is set for Saturday 21st December.

The Christmas Pudding Ride is a cycling Time Trial that anyone can win! It’s not about speed – just your ability to predict your time for the course. You simply register your estimated course time and then ride without a timing device – that means no watch, speedometer, phone, GPS etc.

The person, or team, nearest their predicted time wins a Christmas pudding, and plenty of kudos!

  • You can race on your own, in pairs, threes or fours – the time is taken on the last one back
  • First prize is a Christmas Pudding! It goes to the person or team closest to their estimated time
  • Christmas fancy dress is not compulsory (and not a performance enhancer) but is encouraged!

Here’s Everything You Need To Know

When: The Christmas Pudding ride is on Saturday 21st December. Registration is from 08.30 am and the first rider(s) will be off at 09.00 am. Riders will start at 1 minute intervals.

Where: Meet in the lay-by at Three Maids Hill on A272 (Andover Road) just north of the roundabout

What: There are three route options:

1. A 9.5 mile road route: The road route is P724 9.5. Starting from A272 Three Maids Hill, heading south and then over A34, up Christmas Hill to South Wonston and on to Sutton Scotney. Then left onto A30, on to Hill Farm and left onto A272 and back to 3 Maids Hill.

2. An 11.5 km mostly off-road route. The off-road route follows the same triangle, but with 80% on tracks and trails.

3. A 9.5 km route for the under 12s which is all off-road. This route is up and down the “Andover Wiggle” parallel to the A272 from 3 Maids Roundabout to the Crawley road and back

Why: Because it’s Christmas! The results and prize giving will take place at Cobbs Farm Shop & Kitchen (what used to be know as the The Good Life Café), in Kings Worthy, as soon as the last rider is back. Estimated 11.00 am.

How: Entry costs £3.00 per person (£1.00 for U12) which is payable at the start. Come along, pay your entry fee and register your estimated course time.

Who: The Christmas Pudding Ride is open to all VC Venta club members.

Don’t Want To Ride?

If you don’t want to do the ride then you can contribute by helping out on the day. We need a minimum of 10 volunteers to help with the signing on, start, timing and course set up. Don’t worry if you have not helped before – full training and mince pies will be provided!
