VC Venta flew the flag over the ‘Giant of Provence’ this last weekend, when Crispin Quail, Adrian Gamble, Ysarn Higgins, Alan Parker and Louis Parker (sadly missing James Collins due to last minute work demands) took on the Cinglés du Mont Ventoux challenge, to ascend (and descend) Mont Ventoux on all 3 asphalted roads from Bédoin, Malaucène and Sault in a day, with 4,400m of climbing over 137km.

An added dimension planned was to summit from Bédoin in the dark in time to see the sunrise. This meant a 4.30 am departure, but it was definitely worth it and was the highlight of the trip. The heat steadily built up with around 30 degrees by mid-day.

There was plenty of refuelling at Malaucène and Sault and then a rewarding ice cream in Bédoin after all the hard work was done!

All in all, a tough but memorable weekend and one more ticked off the list!
