April’s challenge provides a different prospect to the flat, short sprinters segment that competitors faced last month. This is a relatively short and fast climb up towards Alresford from the South, along the familiar Jacklyns Lane.
The segment begins at the bottom of the dip that is marked by the junction with Spring Gardens, just beyond the bridge that passes over the Alresford bypass. From here you climb Northwards for around half a mile at a fairly steady and not particularly steep gradient, passing along the main road that bisects the housing estates bordering the Southern aspect of Alresford town.
The segment ends as you crest the top of the hill, prior to the road descending down, and then underneath the old railway bridge into the town centre. This segment will require a punchy effort to set a good time.
Please remember to obey the rules of the road when attempting to set a time on this segment, and be particularly wary of vehicles joining the main carriageway from side roads. The link to the segment is here:
