February 2025 Strava Segment of the Month
VCV Furzedown Road
Nations Hill was fully intended as a sharp shock to jump-start your sleepy systems in January.
February brings a very different kind of effort...
We start just south of Kings Somborne village, where a cul-de-sac called Old Palace Farm joins from the right hand side.
The segment has two climbs.
The first is shorter and (generally) steeper, ramping to over 8% but only lasting about 400 metres. Then, following a short descent that sweeps down and to the left, the second, longer ascent begins. This is pretty much exactly 2km, and although it’s tempting to call it a 5%, it does actually kick up to 10% before levelling off.
The segment finishes where a long metal gate marks the entrance to a track into Parnholt Wood.
