June’s Queen stage brought the prospect of double points for any rider willing to make the short trip out towards Petersfield this month.
In the women’s competition, Annie Dixey set a strong time of 07:00 to take first position and a full 30 points on offer. Very close behind in second place was Franie Ng taking 24 points with a time of 07:05. Last year’s Women’s champion Vanda Kyselicova took third place and 20 points with a time of 08:44.
In the men’s competition, there was a limited number of efforts from the field. Head and shoulders above the competition, Michael Wise took 30 points for first place with a very impressive time of 05:27. Martin Evans nabbed second place and 24 points along with it, with a time of 06:03. Daniel Mahony took third place and the 20 points on offer with a time of 06:36.
In the Women’s GC competition, Annie Dixey now has a commanding lead with 96 points. Franie Ng remains in a strong second place on 81 points and Vanda Kyselicova hold third place, close behind on 72 points.
In the Men’s GC competition, the lead has been taken back by Dave Morris, who now sits in first place on 74 points. This is a rather precarious lead, with Michael Wise only 2 points behind in second position on 72 points. Matt Gilmour finishes off the podium in third place in the Men’s GC on 53 points.
Congratulations for June to both Michael and Annie who both deservedly win the complimentary hot drink and cake from the South Downs Social café.
July offers a slightly less stern test for competitors’ legs, as we move a little closer to home. For a high speed run out of Twyford.
