September’s hill climb segment resulted in some very close competition between the riders who tested themselves on the steep slopes up Northington Village hill.
In the women’s competition, Franie Ng nabbed first place with a time of 2:05. Second place went to Annie Dixey who was very close on Franie’s heels with a time of 02:07. Last year’s women’s champion Vanda Kyselicova closed off the podium taking third place with a time of 02:54.
In the men’s competition, Michael Wise again nabbed first position by the closest of margins setting a fast time of 01:38. One second behind with a time of 01:39, Dave Morris took second place. Equally close behind was Martin Evans who closed out third place with a time 0f 01:40.
In the Women’s GC competition, Annie Dixey remains in first place on 130 points and Franie Ng has dramatically closed the gap to her second position on 126 points. Vanda Kyselicova solidifies remains in third place on 104 points.
In the Men’s GC competition, things have now switched at the top of the table. Thanks to his first place this month, Michael Wise now sits atop the table on 110 points. Dave Morris has dropped to second place on 108 points. Matt Gilmour and Martin Evans are equal third position on 61 points apiece. This means that for the final month of the competition, the race between Michael Wise and Dave Morris for first place in the Men’s GC will come down to who can set the fastest time over October’s segments. Further down the table, the battle for fifth position is close between James Locke and Daniel Mahony.
Many congratulations for September to Michael and Franie, who both win the complimentary hot drink and cake from the South Downs Social café.
